The unusual arrangement comes at a time when Kenya has no stadium available to host the match following the closure of Nyayo National Stadium and the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani which are currently undergoing renovations.
However, the two stadiums, which have in the past been able to host matches of such calibre, would not have passed the test this time round as they were yet to be approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) according to the set international standards.

The renovations being done at Nyayo and Kasarani are to ensure that the country is ready for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations that Kenya is expected to jointly host alongside East African neighbours Uganda and Tanzania.
Harambee Stars are also expected to stage their fourth match against reigning African champions Ivory Coast in Malawi.
