Tanzania bet against hope as AFCON enters last day of group stage action

The Tanzanians are hoping to get a first-ever win in the tournament.
- Four matches will take place on Wednesday.
- In Group E, current leaders Mali will face Namibia at 8PM as South Africa, who are second in the standings, take on Tunisia at the same time.
- In Group F, Zambia will take on Morocco at 11 with Tanzania facing DR Congo.
The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 will be entering the last day of the group stage fixtures with teams in group E and F battling for a spot in the round of 16.
In Group E, current leaders Mali will face Namibia at 8PM as South Africa, who are second in the standings, take on Tunisia at the same time.
Bafana Bafana will be hoping to build on their big victory in matchweek 2 game where they put four goals past Namibia in a result that saw them jumping to second despite facing a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Mali in their opening fixture.

In Group F, leaders Morocco, who have won one match and drawn the other, will be hoping to cruise past Zambia in order to maintain top spot.
In the other clash, DR Congo, who have drawn their previous matches against Zambia and Morocco, will be facing Tanzania.
The Taifa stars will be hoping for a miracle as they continue to look for their first AFCON win in their history. They have taken part in three different editions of AFCON in the year 1980, 2019 and 2023 but still haven't managed to win a game, having drawn two and lost six of their games.
The ongoing AFCON has served the fans with some wild and exciting matches and they will be hoping to witness another blockbuster.

Cameroon needed two goals in the dying minutes of the game to win 3-2 as they fought back from a 2-1 deficit in the hands of The Gambia with Christopher Wooh scoring the winning goal for the Indomitable Lions in the 91st minute.
In another game, Ghana bottled a 2-0 lead against Mozambique in additional minutes to see them draw 2-2. This led them to crushing out of the AFCON tournament in the group stage in two consecutive editions.
Another surprise was witnessed when Mauritania won 1-0 against the 2019 champions Algeria to confirm their first round of 16 qualification in their AFCON history.
